Our students will be at the McCain McDonalds April 5th at 7:00 am collecting change for the Day of Change campaign. All proceeds will go toward the local Ronald McDonald house. We are also planning to have a collection bucket in the office that will allow our staff to donate to this cause. If you have some extra change please consider placing it in the buckets; we will take all of the donations and give it to the RMHC Day of Change campaign headquarters. Ms. Bonnette is our connection to this organization so we want to help her with this important project.

Friday night this group of EAST Students put down their cell phones and devoted three hours to foster parents and their children. Fellowship North allowed our kids to host the event at their church. All of these students and some not in photo, played games, sang songs, danced, and spent time with some precious children so that their parents could have a free night out! We are proud of these young adults for realizing the importance of giving back to their community.

Parent Notification of BMI/Scoliosis Screening Dear Parent, On February 8th we will be conducting BMI/Scoliosis screening. We will be doing BMI/ Scoliosis on all 8th grade students. On February 9th we will be doing Scoliosis on 6th grade girls. The procedure for screening is a simple one in which the child’s back is observed as he/she stands upright and as he/she bends forward. To observe this condition, each child will be asked to remove their shirt. The screening will be conducted in privacy with only the student and nurse present. Any curvature or “back hump” that is noticed during the screening may indicate the need for further evaluation. If a problem is found, you will be notified, and we will recommend that you take your child to the physician of your choice for evaluation. It is a state mandated screening. If you do not want your student to participate in the scoliosis screening you will need to let us know in writing 3 days before the screening date. Phone calls will not be accepted. If your child does not participate you will have to take them to a physician and have the screening done and return a record from the doctor with the results of the screening. Thank you, Tonya Green RN 7/8th Grade Nurse Brooke Buckley RN 6th Grade Nurse

Dear families - We want to give you an update in regards to the water main leak we shared with you yesterday. Thankfully they have been able to isolate the spot and re-route the water temporarily. This will allow us to keep school open through Friday. There will be digging going on around the school when your students arrive Thursday morning. School will be in session so go ahead and send your students into the building. Also, there were a few students who misinformed their parents through text today that school was being cancelled. PLEASE know - the district will notify you through the automated robo call, an email just like this, and through social media, if school is cancelled due to this situation or any other. Thanks again for your patience. D. Lee Tackett, NLRMS Principal Michael Clark, NLRMS 6th grade Building Administrator

Dear families, There is a 10" water main at the NLRMS that has cracked and is leaking. School personnel are monitoring it closely and hoping that it causes no problems between now and the end of the school day on Friday, Dec. 15. If for some reason the pipe would burst before that, school would have to be cancelled due to the water being shut off campus wide. If this would happen, you will receive notification through the automatic phone system and posts on social media. If this happens during the school day, parents will be asked to pick up their students if they are a car rider. Or, if a bus rider, the buses will take students home. We hope we get to Friday without any problems. If not, we will let you know. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Michael Clark at clarkm@nlrsd.org Thanks for your understanding and patience. December 7, 2017 Dear Parents, Beginning December 11, 2017, remodeling of both the 6th grade campus and 7/8 campus main offices will begin. This will be a 6-8 week process. When this is finished, both campuses will have secured entrances (similar to what the NLR elementary schools currently have). In conjunction with the remodel of the offices, all exterior doors will be replaced on both campuses. During the construction process, the main offices on both campuses will be temporarily relocated. At the 6th grade campus, the main office will be relocated to the 6th grade media center. At the 7/8 campus, the main office will be relocated to room 105, which is located next to the media center. This is an exciting time for us at North Little Rock Middle School. We ask for your patience during the time of remodeling. Traffic patterns and entrances will not change on either campus. Sincerely, D. Lee Tackett Principal NLRMS Michael Clark Building Administrator 6th grade
