8th -Grade Promotion

Dear Parents & Guardians,

We are happy to announce an 8th grade End of Year Ceremony. We are especially proud of our 8th-grade students and their commitment to their academics during these unprecedented times. This special event is both a privilege and an opportunity to honor our students for their time at North Little Rock Middle School.  This ceremony does not guarantee that your student has met the requirements to be promoted to the Ninth Grade. Students who participate in this ceremony may still be required to attend summer school.

In order to maintain social distancing guidelines, the ceremony will be held outside on the turf of the Middle School courtyard on Wednesday, May 19th at 9:00 am.  In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the North Little Rock Middle School Upper Gym. Since this is a special occasion, we are asking students to wear semi-formal wear with their masks.  Parents if you would like to check out your students after the ceremony, checkouts will begin at 11:00 am.  We will provide a checkout form through the front office to expedite this process.

 Boys

Please wear nice dress shoes. (No Open-toed shoes, flip flops, or slides)

Male students are recommended to wear collared shirts, preferably button-down.

Nice dress pants or khakis. (Sweatpants or shorts are not allowed.)

Girls

Please wear nice dress shoes. Very high heels are not recommended due to the amount of walking. (Flip flops or slides are not allowed.)

Dresses, dress pants, or a modest skirt with a nice top, blouse, or sweater is appropriate.

Dresses and skirts should be the appropriate length.  Dresses may not have cut-outs or show cleavage.

Absolutely NO midriffs or crop tops.

Strapless, spaghetti strap, or tank top dresses must be worn with a sweater at all times.

In order to protect the health and safety of employees and students, parents will have the opportunity to watch the ceremony virtually. Also, this event is called an "End of Year Ceremony" to recognize a milestone that is uniquely important but does not automatically promote students to 9th grade. Academic requirements will have to be fulfilled according to the student handbook. If a student is suspended or under suspension during the time of the ceremony, they will not be allowed to attend.

We are excited to see all of our students before they move on to high school. We are so very proud of them and wish them the best in their future endeavors. We will do all we can to recognize our students’ accomplishments, knowing there are limitations that are currently out of our control. Thank you for your understanding and support.

 Sincerely,

Quintin Cain,

Principal NLRMS 7th/8th Grade Campus
