Parents,
Summer school registration is well on the way. Parents, who have middle school students of NLR Academy that have to attend summer school, will need to register their child for summer school at North Little Rock Middle School this summer. The site for registration is on the district website. High school students will register on the school district website for NLR Academy Summer School. Summer school for NLR Academy is from June 6 – June 30, 2022.

Erik Axxe is this month's recipient of the "Great Rising" Mentoring Award. When Axxe learned of the launch of our mentoring program, he signed up and began working with students at NLR Academy. He is encouraging others to get involved in this meaningful work.

2022 Spring ACT Aspire Schedule-NLR Academy
On April 26th, 27th, and 28th, your middle school student will be taking the ACT Aspire assessments for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade in English, Math, Reading, Science, and Writing. Students will begin testing at 8:30 a.m. each day.
High School students will test on May 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Your student will be taking the ACT Aspire assessments for 9th and 10th grade in English, Math, Reading, Science, and Writing. Students will begin testing at 9:15 a.m. each day.
The valuable data, we gain from these assessments, allows us to make evidence-based decisions when addressing your child’s strengths, areas for improvement, and growth potential. This can give you an early indication of his or her likely readiness for the future, providing time to address areas where improvement is needed.
Measuring academic growth is necessary to keep your child on track for college and career readiness. Our students rise to the challenge and we ask you to encourage your child to do their best and get plenty of sleep the night before.
To learn more about the test, visit www.act.org/actaspire or call our office at (501) 955-3600.

Due to predicted rain in the forecast, our "Literacy Leads to Champions" parade scheduled for Sunday has been postponed. We thank you for your support!

Are you ready for the parade? You do not want to miss the NLRSD's "Literacy Leads to Champions" parade, which will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.! This first-ever parade will highlight the district's commitment to literacy through our schools, students, and student-athletes.

This is a follow up to communication about dismissal procedures for our middle and high school students and staff.
We will release all middle school students and staff at this time. Because of the delayed release, this will cause buses to arrive at the high school about thirty minutes later than normal dismissal time. However, high school will dismiss on time.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.

This is a follow up to earlier communication about our plans during severe weather.
At this time, we will continue with normal dismissal procedures for our Pre-K and elementary students and staff only. We will continue to monitor the weather and will provide additional communication as it relates to dismissal plans for middle and high school students and staff.
If a parent wishes to pick up their child, it must be done before a tornado warning is in place. Once students and staff are in shelter, we cannot release them for safety reasons until the warning expires.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

Get ready for the first-ever NLRSD "Literacy Leads to Champions" parade, set for April 24, beginning at 2:00 p.m. This parade will highlight our district's commitment to literacy through our schools, students, and student-athletes.
Be on the lookout for more communication!

Happy Thursday!
Please see the Superintendent's Message, which addresses the district's policy as it relates to restricting visitors for this school year only.

Parents, please note that all buses will be two hours late tomorrow. We will provide breakfast for our students and have a regularly scheduled school day. The early release day has been canceled, and students will be released at their normal times.

The NLRSD will pivot to remote learning for Thursday, February 24, 2022, as a result of inclement weather and the pending forecast for tomorrow.
