We are beyond proud to celebrate one of our former students, a proud 2014 North Little Rock Academy graduate, who has turned his potential into purpose.
Today, Officer Kawhun Tims returned to The North Little Rock Academy to speak to our current students, sharing his powerful journey of resilience, hard work, and transformation. He reminded us all that challenges can be overcome and that our potential is limitless. He also took time to visit with some of his former teachers — the very people who made a lasting impact on his life and helped him become the person he is today.
He offered a sobering reminder, saying, “Some of the same people I sat at the lunch table with here at the Academy are some of the same ones who were murdered, committed murders, or who I’ve had to arrest during my time as a Pulaski County Sheriff’s Officer.”
As he toured the school, Officer Tims reflected on his own experiences, even laughing as he pointed out several spots in the hallway where he remembered getting into fights. His honesty, humility, and message of growth inspired both students and staff, showing that no matter where you start, you have the power to change your path.
Officer Tims now walks a new path of service, leadership, and courage, giving back to the community that shaped him. His story is a testament to the fact that with perseverance, the right support, and a belief in oneself, anything is possible.
To our current students: Your story is still being written, and greatness is within your reach. Just like Officer Tims, you can turn your challenges into triumphs.
Congratulations, Officer Tims! Your NLR Academy family stands with you, cheering you on as you inspire us all. Thank you for your commitment to making a difference. 💙💫
