This is a follow up to communication about dismissal procedures for our middle and high school students and staff. We will release all middle school students and staff at this time. Because of the delayed release, this will cause buses to arrive at the high school about thirty minutes later than normal dismissal time. However, high school will dismiss on time. Thank you for your patience and understanding as the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.

This is a follow up to communication about dismissal procedures for our middle school students and staff. At this time, we will delay the release of our middle school students and staff only. We will continue to monitor the weather and will inform you of when we will release middle school students and staff. Be on the lookout for communication for dismissing our high school students and staff. If a parent wishes to pick up their child, it must be done before a tornado warning is in place. Once students and staff are in shelter, we cannot release them for safety reasons until the warning expires. Thank you for your patience and understanding. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

At this time, we will continue with normal dismissal procedures for our Pre-K and elementary students and staff only. We will continue to monitor the weather and will provide additional communication as it relates to dismissal plans for middle and high school students and staff. The NLRSD is monitoring the potential for severe weather in central Arkansas. Our local meteorologists expect severe thunderstorms at the time our elementary schools dismiss. In the event of severe weather, we will hold students and staff at schools until conditions improve to ensure a safe dismissal. We believe that our schools are the safest place during a storm. All after-school activities and athletic events will be canceled this afternoon. If a parent wishes to pick up their child, it must be done before a tornado warning is in place. Once students and staff are in shelter, we cannot release them for safety reasons until the warning expires. We thank you for your patience and understanding if there are delays in dismissal. We will remain in contact with you throughout the day. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the state. We are closely monitoring current weather conditions and will take every precaution necessary to ensure the safety and security of students and staff. We will provided additional communication as needed.

Mrs. Tamika Spaight and her students, Jaishaun McBride and Aylissa Jenkins, from North Little Rock Academy, shared with the Board of Education some of the art projects they completed during Black History Month.

Pastor Mike Stinnett of Full Counsel Ministries, received the Great Rising award. He was instrumental in developing adult-youth mentoring in the district and has made an effort to visit North Little Rock Academy to mentor students there multiple times a week.

John McClelland, a grandfather of two students at Seventh Street Elementary, received the Parent North S.T.A.R award for his noteworthy efforts to support the students and staff at the school. He encourages other parents and grandparents to get more involved in schools.

The Superintendent recognized the Charging Wildcats and their coaches on winning the Class 6A Boys Basketball championship game! The team finished the season with a 28-3 record. They are ranked #1 in Arkansas and #12 nationally.
