Ms. Shanda Macon has been appointed as the Coordinator of School Innovation. She comes to the NLRSD from the Little Rock School District, where she served as an Academy Coach at Little Rock Southwest High School.
In this role, Ms. Macon will be responsible for implementing the Superintendent’s E4 the Future District Transformational Model, which is aimed to create innovative schools in new or creative ways to existing instructional and administrative practices that are intended to improve academic performance and learning for all students.
As an Academy Coach at Little Rock Southwest High, Ms. Macon assisted in the establishment of the Career Academies at the school, which is a component of the Academies of Central Arkansas. The Academies of Central Arkansas is a joint initiative of the four public school districts across Pulaski County and the regional business community. In 2019, the Jacksonville North Pulaski, Little Rock, North Little Rock, and Pulaski County Special School Districts, together with the five Pulaski County chambers of commerce and business and civic leaders, began implementing high school academies within all public high schools in the county, serving all students.
Before serving as an Academy Coach, Ms. Macon served as the Marketing Coordinator at J.A. Fair High School for 26 years. In this role, she taught marketing/business-related courses and implemented job shadowing, internships, and real-world experiences for students. She also guided students in developing career planning portfolios.
Prior to launching a career in education, she held roles in the private sector, working at Alltel Corporation and AT&T.
Ms. Macon received a Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Central Arkansas.
