DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT
Dr. Torrye Hooper
Dr. Torrye Hooper joined the North Little Rock School District in November 2021. Before relocating to the Natural State, Dr. Hooper served as the School Support Officer for the Houston (TX) Independent School District, where she supervised thirteen principals on elementary and secondary campuses.
Hooper, who is originally from Ohio, has over 20 years of experience in education. She has served as a Teacher, District Specialist, Assistant Principal, Principal, and District School Supervisor. She has been recognized for overseeing double-digit growth in academic progress at multiple campuses under her leadership.
In addition, a dual language campus under her supervision has been recognized by the state of Texas with seven distinctions for two consecutive years in Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Academic Growth, Post-Secondary Readiness, and Closing the Gaps.
As Deputy Superintendent, Dr. Hooper collaborates with the Superintendent to provide organizational leadership to ensure the coordinated planning and consistent implementation of the school district's strategic plan, making certain that programs and supports are effective and focused on student learning and prioritized to meet individual school needs. She also acts as the Superintendent at the request of or in the absence of the Superintendent.
Hooper earned a Doctorate in Education from the University of Texas at Austin. She received a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree from Texas Southern University. She also earned Spanish Language Learner certifications while studying abroad in Costa Rica.
