By the authority of Article 14 of the Arkansas Constitution, the General Assembly has provided that locally elected school boards will be responsible for the lawful operation and maintenance of its local schools.
Meetings of the North Little Rock Board of Education are open to the public. Special Board Meetings/Board Workshops are held on the first Thursday of every month. Regular Board Meetings are held every third Thursday of every month. Both start at 5:30 p.m. and take place at the Administration Building, located at 2400 Willow Street.
The North Little Rock Board of Education may decide to change the meeting dates in the event of a schedule conflict or a holiday. If that occurs, the district will communicate that information on the website and to the media.
Special Board Meetings are planned as the need arises, and notification about those meetings will be provided within the time frame as mandated by the Arkansas Open Meetings law.
Viewers will be able to watch the meeting live on YouTube. The YouTube Channel is NLRSD Board Meetings. You may also view past Board Meetings on the YouTube Channel.
Following each Board Meeting, highlights from the meeting are recorded in a Board Brief and sent to parents and other stakeholders. Board Briefs can also be read at the link on this page, located under Additional Resources.
We kindly ask that you follow the district's chain of command, allowing district staff members to handle an issue before contacting a board member.
SUPERINTENDENT AND BOARD MEMBER SCHOOL VISITS
Per Board Policy, found in Section 1.7, Number 11, it reads that some of the duties of the board include "visiting schools and classrooms when students are present no less than annually." The Superintendent and the Board of Education hold regular Superintendent and Board Member school visits throughout the school year. This is an opportunity for board members to meet with students, administrators, and school staff.
