AMBOY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

4 School Areas With 700 Pupils Annexed to NLR

The Pulaski County Board of Education yesterday ordered the transfer of Amboy, Indian Hills, Meadow Park and Delta Lawn areas from the Pulaski County (rural) School District to the North Little Rock District effective Monday.

About 700 students in Amboy, Indian Hills and Meadow Park will attend North Little Rock schools instead of County schools this fall. There are no students in the Delta Lawn area, which is not developed.

The four areas total about 5 1/2 square miles. Amboy, at the west side of North Little Rock consists of about three square miles.

Its annexation to the city School District will make the school boundary and city limits coincide, since Amboy area already is in the city limits. Amboy Elementary School is the only school facility involved in the annexation.

Indian Hills is on both sides of Highway 5 west of Sherwood and recently was annexed to the city. It consists of a square mile (section 12) that is being developed by Winrock Enterprises, Inc.

Meadow Park is in the Protho Junction area and also consists of one square mile (Section 28),on the north side of U. S. Highway 70.

Delta Lawn consists of half a section south of Highway 70, extending south of the Cotton Belt Route tracks.

The annexation of Meadow Park and Delta Lawn squares off the North Little Rock District's boundary on the east side the city.
